Software Cluster
The Software Cluster includes the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Information Systems Engineering. With 27 faculty members and over 700 students, research in the Department of Computer Science covers all core areas of computer science. The Department has strong groups in Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Bio-informatics, Computational Geometry and Graphics, Cryptography and Security, Distributed Systems, and Software Engineering.
The Department of Information Systems Engineering, with 13 faculty members and over 400 students, is focused on the integration of practical and theoretical aspects of multiple computational areas. Examples include Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining and Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Medical Informatics, Digital Libraries, Information Security, System Analysis and System Design methodologies, and other topics.
Together, the two Departments provide broad coverage of computer science and information technology, and train the next generation of experts in software technology and its applications, including over 300 students of the joint Software Engineering Program. Cluster members have access to virtually all students who seek technical training in computer science and information technology, and to faculty with a balanced view of theory and applications.
